Part of the Department of Nursing, the Outpatient Infusion Center at Seton Medical Center provides comprehensive services to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy and patients with congestive heart failure for inotropic infusions. The unit is also available for intravenous treatments and procedures requiring skilled nursing interventions and care, including but not limited to blood transfusions, PICC line placement, antibiotic infusion, therapeutic phlebotomy, and central line maintenance. The outpatient infusion center provides a holistic approach to the diverse needs of patients receiving infusions and/or related treatments. Purpose:
To provide quality nursing care to adult patients who require intravenous infusion therapy and/or treatments or procedures prescribed by their physician.
Goals:
- To provide competent, skilled and accessible nursing care to clients utilizing the Outpatient Infusion Center.
- To provide infusion services and/or treatments to outpatient clients in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.
- To provide client services, which utilize current, nursing knowledge related to intravenous medication infusion and standard nursing practice of selected procedures and treatments.
- To provide an environment which addresses the physiological, psychological and emotional needs of clients utilizing the Outpatient infusion Center.
