Our Breast Health Center offers a full range of services, among them diagnostic and screening mammograms, ultrasound exams, and breast health education. If a condition is diagnosed and treatment is required, we provide access to a full range of interventions, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

Our Breast Health Experts
At our Breast Health Center, a team of medical experts works together to provide the highest quality analyses of breast tissue.

Breast Self-Exam Instruction
We also have an experienced nurse on staff to answer your questions and provide individual and group training in breast self-exam. We use the Mammacare technique, which features breast models, videotapes, and written materials. This techniques helps women learn to distinguish what is and isn’t normal when they examine their breasts.

Mammography
Mammography (the process of taking X-ray images of the breasts) is one of the most important screenings to find out if you have a breast disease. Once your mammogram is taken, a radiologist, who will detect any abnormalities and report them to your doctor, examines it. At Seton, we adhere to the highest standards for mammography.

Mammography services at Seton Breast Health Center include:

• Image reviews performed by board-certified radiologists
• Technologists that are certified to perform diagnostic and screening mammography by the American College of Radiology and the State of California
• Low-dose mammography equipment accredited by the above institutions-equipment that meets the highest standards for safety, image quality and technical performance

Regular appointment hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you need to be seen right away, we’ll make every effort to schedule your appointment within 24 hours.

If you are pre-menopausal, you should have your appointment near the 10th day after you start your period, when your breasts are least tender and there will be little or no discomfort.

Ultrasound Diagnosis
Along with mammography, we have ultrasound equipment to diagnose conditions by means of sound waves.

Needle Biopsies
We can also perform needle biopsies (where breast tissue is extracted with a needle and analyzed) and needle localizations.

Support Groups
Research has shown that women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer recover more successfully when they participate in support groups, where they can express their feelings and exchange practical information.

Nutritional Counseling
The Seton Breast Health Center can also help you and your physician arrange for appropriate counseling in nutrition, rehabilitation, and social services.

Consultations for Breast Cancer Patients
And we can also refer you to specialized resources in the community for consultation on wigs, prostheses, clothing and make-up.
